Tucked in the serene suburbs of Bulacan, Casa Bolivar is a 63-square-meter modern farmhouse-inspired bungalow that beautifully captures the essence of simple yet elevated living. Designed with warmth, functionality, and timeless charm in mind, this home blends rustic textures with modern sensibilities, offering a cozy refuge that feels both familiar and refined. The heart of Casa Bolivar lies in its newly renovated kitchen and dining area, the true focal point of the home. This space was thoughtfully reimagined to bring the family closer, particularly through the shared joy of preparing and cooking meals — a passion that defines the client’s lifestyle. The layout encourages interaction and ease, where every movement between chopping, serving, and sharing flows seamlessly.
Originally located at the back of the house, the kitchen and dining area suffered from poor lighting and ventilation, resulting in a damp environment prone to mold and insects.
To transform this, the new design embraced an open-concept layout featuring a skylight that floods the interior with natural light. This not only brightens the space but also creates a stunning lightbox effect throughout the day, turning what was once a dark, enclosed corner into a lively and uplifting hub of the home.
The kitchen’s material palette speaks to a balance of texture and tone — a blend of white zellige backsplash tiles, laminated wood cabinetry, and a concrete-finish range hood that serves as a subtle accent piece.
The solid acacia wood dining set is seamlessly connected to the kitchen island, adding both additional prep space and a touch of natural warmth. Together, these elements create a cohesive environment that feels organic, modern, and deeply personal.
