During the initial phase of this project, my client and I spent time exchanging ideas about her dream home. She shared a folder filled with her inspirations, titled “Project Dreamhouse.” From that moment, the name stuck—and it perfectly captured the essence of what we wanted to achieve.
One of our favorite features: Hidden door for the pantry room!
The title carried so much excitement and meaning that it became our design compass throughout the process. It also reminded me daily of my goal: to design with heart, purpose, and the best of my abilities to create a home that embodies both comfort and beauty.
Project Dreamhouse is a 350 sqm modern Japandi inspired two-storey home that exudes warmth, balance, and light. The clients desired a space that felt open—bright, and calm. They also wanted to infuse their personality through subtle touches of color. We incorporated hues like rust and mustard, which blend beautifully with light oak, maple, and natural wood textures. These tones add vibrancy without overwhelming the clean, minimal design, creating a home that feels both uplifting and serene.
Upon entering the house, guests are welcomed into a lowered foyer, inspired by the Japanese genkan concept. This thoughtful feature is not only an aesthetic nod to Japandi design but also a functional element—marking a clear transition between the outdoors and indoors.
It gives visitors a moment to pause, remove their shoes, and symbolically leave the day’s stresses behind. The lowered level also subtly enhances the spatial experience, making the main living area feel more expansive as you step up into it.
The open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area serves as the heart of the home, designed for gatherings and family moments. Natural light floods the space through wide glass doors and high ceilings, emphasizing its bright and airy atmosphere.
The living area features a soft, curved sectional sofa accented with textured throws and warm-colored cushions, perfectly complementing the modern aesthetic. The dining area, highlighted by a long table and upholstered chairs in warm orange tones, connects seamlessly to the Viro Casa kitchen—a modern showpiece with integrated appliances, light wood cabinetry, and a clean, functional layout that blends elegance with practicality.
One of the standout elements in this home is the Molave wood staircase, designed to appear as if it’s floating. Its natural grain and warm tone contrast beautifully with the neutral palette, adding an organic touch that anchors the space. The glass balustrades keep the look open and airy, while the wood steps bring in texture and craftsmanship.
The rest of the home includes four bedrooms, each designed to reflect calm and comfort, and a dedicated home theatre, offering a cozy retreat for family entertainment.
Every space in Project Dreamhouse was thoughtfully crafted to embody the perfect blend of modern simplicity, natural warmth, and personal charm—a true reflection of the homeowners and their dream come to life.
